Fun in the Sun!

In August we left boring old Cincinnati and headed to a week of fun on Carolina Beach in North Carolina! Strangely enough, it was a lot warmer at home than at the beach, making the weather in the beach just perfect.  We rented an ocean front condo which was awesome, just a few minutes walk to the beach. This year was the first time we've taken kids to the beach and not had to worry about a morning nap, which made it so much better.  We spent the mornings on the beach, went to the room for lunch and afternoon naps (for me too!) and then usually did something fun in the evening. 

Since we went after school started, the beach was wonderfully un-crowded. :)  Not too many years left that we can do this! 

Carolina Beach was a small town. It wasn't too touristy, which was nice. Apparently they have one of the best donut shops in the country, Britt's Donuts, so we headed there one morning for donuts. They only make one kind, which is plain glazed, but they sure were awesome!

 

We both really like puzzles but only generally have time to do them while on vacation, so keeping with tradition we brought one with us and got to work.

On one rainy morning we went to the local Aquarium instead. It was a really great Aquarium (and much more affordable then Newport)

 

 

Tyler and Alex are starting to play together a lot more now that Alex is getting older, and they had a lot of fun goofing off around the condo.  They also shared a room, and each morning it was a surprise to see what they got into. The first morning Tyler had pushed all of the bedding and stuff into the pack in play allowing Alex to climb out, and they were both found jumping up and down on the bed.  Another morning Tyler went out and got the bag of M&Ms so they could share a candy breakfast.  It was pretty funny times!

After time at the beach, we headed to Raleigh, NC to go to my cousin's wedding.  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding with handmade decorations worthy of Pinterest. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with family and goof off.

All in all it was a great vacation!

After we got home, Tyler started pre-school again!

And Alex wishes he could go too!
