Inch by inch, row by row, I'm going to help my garden grow

One hobby I enjoy (though don't get much time to do) is gardening.  I have a very long list of things I'd like to do to the landscape around our house, so every year I try to do one or two new things.  This year I planted tomatoes and bell peppers for the first time (so far so good, though deer ate most of my peppers!) on one side of the house, and along the other side of the house Tyler helped me plant a few packets of wildflower seeds.  I had pretty low expectations, to be honest.  I've never really grown anything from seeds.  But I got several packets free from work for an earth day event, so I thought why not try.  And they definitely exceeded my expectations! I think this is something I'll do every year now.  It's nice to have something really easy to grow and something that's easy to cut flowers from for the table - I love fresh flowers in the house! All I did was remove the top layer of dirt, Tyler helped me sprinkle the seeds over the ground, I replaced the top layer of dirt and watered it once. I let nature do the rest! I think it was a good learning experience for Tyler, too - he really enjoyed checking on them to see their progress and watch them grow.  He's very proud of his garden!
